01 / Why license from the Navy

  • Registered protection

Patents and software registrations at INPI. Licenses with legal certainty and exclusivity negotiable by field of use.

  • Stated maturity

Each profile states the technology readiness level (TRL), and many have already been demonstrated in naval operation.

  • Two markets

Supply to defense and civil applications in ports, oil and gas, energy, health and security.

  • The lab at your side

Direct contact with the team that developed the technology, with support for absorbing it and evolving the product.

03 / How to license

From expression of interest
to contract

  1. Expression of interest

Your company chooses the technology and sends an expression of interest through the form or by e-mail, at no cost and with no commitment.

  2. Technical assessment

Meetings with the originating institute, under a non-disclosure agreement, to assess the fit with your business.

  3. Negotiation

Type of agreement, exclusivity, field of use, royalties, other consideration and the technology absorption plan.

  4. Contract and transfer

Signature of the legal instrument, transfer of know-how and follow-up during industrialization.

Partnership options

A · Ready technology

Licensing with royalties

Your company obtains the right to manufacture and sell the technology and pays royalties on sales to the Federal Government.

  • Exclusive, field-of-use or non-exclusive license
  • Royalties and other consideration negotiated case by case
  • Transfer of technical documentation and know-how
  • Fastest route for high-TRL technologies

B · Build together

Joint development

Company and institute evolve the technology together, sharing risks, results and intellectual property.

  • R&D&I partnership agreement with a joint work plan
  • Resulting IP shared under the agreement
  • Access to laboratories and test infrastructure
  • Suited to mid-TRL technologies

C · On demand

Technology procurement order

For Navy challenges with no solution on the market, the Navy may directly contract R&D&I activities that involve technological risk.

  • Contracting provided for in the Legal Framework for ST&I
  • Scope, milestones and risks defined by contract
  • Possibility of subsequent supply to the Navy

D · The other way around

Your solution in the Navy

Your company or startup brings its solution to the Navy's challenges. CIEMB and the Conexão Marinha program support projects from pre-incubation to calls for ready technologies.
